The shape that is being cut, could be any quadrilateral, because when you cut a four sided figure into 2, each piece has 3 sides.

It could be a quadtrilateral, but it also might be a pentagon/hexagon, if you cut it at each outer vertex and into the origin in the middle.By M&M (my online name is Skittles)
